Wylie Aitken had the privilege to represent a La Mirada family whose 16 year old son, Lance, was injured in an auto accident on the Fort Mohave Indian Reservation in Arizona. The defendant driver was racing another car when he collided head-on with the Plaintiff. The defendant was uninsured and sued Lance for damages. The Plaintiff's insurance defended Lance with regard to liability and argued the Defendant was at fault. However, when Lance filed a claim under his own insurance for damages, the insurance company denied his claim on the basis that Lance was at fault. It was apparent that the insurance company was trying to avoid liability on the underinsured motorist policy. Wylie was eventually able to arbitrate an award for $855,000.00 for Lance's injuries and another $2.5 million on a Bad Faith Insurance claim.

Wylie and Darren Aitken were also able to represent a family from Torrance, California in their wrongful death claim for the loss of the children's 44 year old mother. She died in a plane crash just outside of the Las Vegas Airport. On the day of the accident weather conditions were poor. There was evidence that the plane had been flying erratically just before the accident and that the pilot's health was poor due to leukemia, a diabetic condition and having been previously hospitalized for vertigo. Aitken, Aitken & Cohn ultimately settled the case on behalf of the children for $1.5 million dollars.
