Disney Makes Safety Changes After Fatal Accident

New reports claim that Walt Disney World is planning to make safety changes to a roller coaster in Animal Kingdom.

The decision to make the changes has come in the aftermath of a fatal amusement park accident involving a former employee.

Ride Attendant Dies While Working

The amusement park has decided to make adjustments to the ride to prevent accidents, like the one that occurred with their former employee in November, from happening again.

Karen Price was reportedly hit by one of the ride’s cars, fell from the platform, and died a couple days later at a local hospital.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is reportedly still investigating the death.

Changes Planned for Ride

Disney is reportedly going to change the entry and exit area of the Primeval Whirl and plans to install sensor mats in the restricted access areas.

According to Disney World Spokeswoman, Kim Prunty, the ride platform is also going to be extended and bold stripes are going to be added to the loading zones.

“The sensor mats will shut down the ride if a person sets foot there,” explains Prunty.
