Parents of Car Crash Victim File Suit

The parents of a man who was killed in a car crash on New Year’s Day have filed a suit against the teenager who took their son’s life.

The lawsuit is seeking millions of dollars in damages for the fatal alcohol related incident.

Man Becomes Victim on Way Home

Wesley Taylor, 29, was reportedly driving home early in the morning on New Year’s Day when a car driven by Sarah Ann Haislip, 16, collided with his.

According to police reports, Haislip was under the influence at the time of the crash, ran a red light and collided with Taylor’s vehicle.

Haislip was released last week after serving a year in jail for manslaughter, possession of alcohol and other charges.

Barbra and James K. Taylor are seeking $10 million in compensatory damages along with $350,000 in punitive damages in the case.

Haislip is named as the sole defendant and the suit cites the fact that her blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit in addition to her running a red light.

“When Haislip made the decision to drive down the road, she knew she should not be driving in her condition,” states the suit.
