Fort Wayne, In. residents suffering high number of dog bites

In response to National Dog Bite Prevention week, Indiana residents are being warned about the real danger of dog bites affecting children and adults.

In Fort Wayne alone, a reported 785 people suffered a dog bite last year, and 225 of the dog bite victims were children.  Some of the dog bites were serious – resulting in expensive and painful reconstruction surgery that is not uncommon in dog bite cases.

Dog bite prevention is mostly common sense, according to experts.  Children should never be left alone with a dog, and parents should teach youngsters that any unfamiliar dog should not be approached or disturbed while eating, sleeping or caring for puppies.
