Woman Suffers Injuries in Illinois Auto Accident

A woman living in St. Clair County, Illinois filed a personal injury lawsuit against Illinois Power Company and one of its employees, claiming she sustained serious personal injuries in an Illinois auto accident caused by one of the power company’s drivers.

Minerva Lopez was stopped at an intersection, Dec. 4, waiting to turn west onto an Illinois road when she was rear ended by an Illinois Power Company vehicle. Kevin F. Foley was driving the vehicle at the time of the car accident.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Driver Suffered Personal Injuries
According to the lawsuit, Lopez suffered serious injuries as a result of Foley’s negligence. She is seeking compensation to cover the following damages:

  • Permanent physical injuries
  • Pain management and physical therapy
  • Past and future pain and suffering
  • Mental anguish
  • Inconvenience and time
  • Medical costs
  • Loss of the ability to engage in everyday activities

Lawsuit Blames Defendant’s Negligence
Lopez argues the defendants should be held accountable for their negligence. She argues Foley drove recklessly and failed to:

  • Stop his vehicle in time before the collision
  • Keep his vehicle under control
  • Warn her that he was approaching
  • Swerve to keep from hitting her car

The plaintiff is seeking sums in excess of $100,000 for her losses.
