Illinois Railroad Worker Files Personal Injury Suit

A former railroad worker filed a personal injury lawsuit against Norfolk Southern Railway Company, claiming he sustained serious injuries during his employment with the company. The lawsuit alleges that while he did not have a specific work accident, he sustained physical injuries throughout the course of his employment. 

Plaintiff Claims he Sustained Injuries during Employment

Theodore G. Porter claims he suffered traumatic injuries while working as a boilermaker for Norfolk Southern Railway Company. According to the suit, Porter worked for the company from 1974 to 2008, during which time he sustained the following injuries: 

  • Spinal injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Traumatic body injuries 

Injured Worker Blames Defendant’s Negligence

Porter argues that the company failed to provide him, as an employee, with a safe work environment. He claims the company’s negligence resulted in his injuries. Porter claims the company was negligent in more ways than one:

  • Failed to provide safe tools and equipment
  • Failed to provide the appropriate safety equipment and gear
  • Failed to warn him of hazards on the job
  • Did not provide sufficient supervision
  • Allowed unsafe practices
  • Did not provide sufficient manpower 

Former Illinois Railroad Worker Seeks Compensation

Porter filed the personal injury lawsuit, Nov. 17 in Madison County Circuit Court. He is seeking financial compensation to cover his physical, mental and financial losses; amounting to more than $50,000.  

According to the personal injury lawsuit, Porter sustained physical injuries, hefty medical costs and emotional pain and suffering.
