Family Awarded $6.1M in Stadium Crash

A jury recently settled a case with the family of a man who was killed in a fluke accident while attending a golf tournament.

The family, who are residents of Cape Cod, reportedly received $6.1 million in the settlement.

Accident on Bus Takes Man’s Life

Thomas Kelly, 64, was a passenger on a shuttle bus that was returning to Foxboro stadium from the Deutsche Bank Championship professional golf tournament when the accident occurred.

According to reports, a gate was blown shut by the wind when it suddenly crashed into the bus.

16 of the passengers were injured, and three, including Kelly, were hospitalized for severe injuries.

Family Sues Foxboro Realty

After Thomas’s death, the Kelly family filed a suit against Foxboro Realty, the owners of Gillette Stadium, along with two other firms for the fatal accident.

Apollo Security and Standard Parking, which are both independent firms that worked for Foxboro Realty, were found guilty of negligence.

A $1.82 million award was given to Thomas’s widow and the man’s two sons received $1.14 million each.
